Tsunamis: Awareness & Recovery

Tsunamis are one of the most dangerous and devastating types of natural disasters. One of the biggest and worst effects of a tsunami is the cost to human life because, unfortunately, escaping a tsunami is nearly impossible. There is very little warning before a tsunami hits land; the water rushes quickly towards the shore, allowing people virtually no to time to escape. Hundreds and thousands of people are killed by tsunamis. Since 1850 alone, tsunamis have been responsible for the loss of more than 430,000 lives. This pamphlet sponsored by UNICEF is an opportunity to educate people on the causes, aftermath, and cost of a tsunami, long after the disaster is over. Awareness is the key to survival as well as recovery in areas that can or have been affected by a tsunami.
